Last month a customer came in and we bought her 18k bracelet for $950.  She thanked us for our very fair offer and then proceeded to tell us that she had gone to two places before a friend had highly recommended us as “the ONLY place to go”.  Her first offer was from one of the many “gold buying” stores that have popped up, usually masked with bright signs and a painted van advertising that they are buying gold. Their offer was $250. The other place was at the hotel by the airport that was hosting a buying event, you know the ones that has several full page expensive ads in the newspaper.
